Description
Essential Functions:
- Using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients.
- Clearly explaining the process of drawing blood to the patients and answering any questions they may have regarding collection techniques.
- Registering the blood and storing it in the correct environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to all health and safely standards while working.
- Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.
- Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.
- Correctly label samples and send or deliver them for testing.
Skills Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
- Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
- Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Class C Basic Life Support (CPR) within 90 days of employment and renewed biannually.
- Must adhere to NRMC appearance and attire policy.
Preferred Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in hospital or clinical setting.
