Respite Care Providers Needed! Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program’s (RSVP) Respite Care Program provides regular relief to live-in caregivers caring for their loved ones. Respite services benefit the caregiver and the care recipient who may be living with disabilities, or chronic diseases and cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Volunteer Benefits include:

Respite Provider Duties:
A respite care provider is responsible for providing temporary relief to primary live-in caregivers of individuals who may need assistance due to disability, age, disabilities, or chronic diseases and cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. While personal care aid is not a part of the duties of a Respite Care Provider under RSVP, duties include:
· Companionship: The Respite Care Provider spends time with the care recipient, engaging in social activities, conversation, and companionship. This can include reading, playing games, going for walks, or simply providing emotional support and company.
· Supervision: The Respite Care Provider ensures the safety and well-being of the care recipient by providing supervision and monitoring their activities. This may include monitoring for any potential safety hazards and being alert to any changes in the care recipient’s condition.
· Communication: The Respite Care Provider may communicate with the primary caregiver, other members of the care team, and RSVP to provide updates on the care recipient’s well-being, share any concerns or observations, and collaborate on the service plan.
· Record-keeping: The respite care provider will accurately maintain records and documentation of care provided, including notes on the care recipient’s condition, activities, and any changes observed to communicate with the primary caregiver and RSVP.
· Training: The Respite Care Provider will be required to complete training designed to meet the Respite Care Professionals Core Competencies.
· Confidentiality: The Respite Care Provider will maintain confidentiality regarding the care recipient and caregiver’s information, activities, and any records pertaining to the care recipient which become known to the Respite Provider.
Requirements:
· Must be 25 years of age or older.
· Must be able to pass criminal history check including Nevada Department of Corrections, and National Sex Offender Search
· Must abide and adhere to Nevada Rural RSVP’s Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Ethics
· Must provide 3 non-relative references
· Provide a copy of a valid Nevada Driver’s License, Form I-9, and Social Security Card with current name
· Ability to work an assigned schedule which supports the care recipient and caregiver. Hours vary and will reflect a schedule to meet the family’s needs.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
