Position Title: Accounting TechnicianStatus: TEMPORARY: to begin April 21, 2025 to end after 12 weeks.Department: FiscalWork Schedule: 25 - 30 hours per week, Monday through FridayCompensation: Compensation based upon skill level and years of experience Position SummaryThe Accounting Technician will perform assigned duties within accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. Essential DutiesReceive into Quickbooks accurate individual payroll hours, rates, and class allocationsReconcile Heartland-produced payroll registers per employee with QuickbooksPost Payroll cash transactions in Quickbooks GLReconcile the Payroll clearing account monthlyOrganize source documents in AP and Payroll online in an accounting shared drivePerform proper maintenance of all end-of-the-year recordsMaintain spreadsheets, tracking payroll, tax and benefitsAssist diverse departments with expense reimbursements, source documentation and credit card transactionsReview all check requests and reconcile to source documentationAssist Accounts Payable accountant with attaching source documentation as required by individual contracts and grants (in Quickooks by class)Other duties as assigned QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: Excellent clerical and basic accounting understanding. Skill levels will be determined through accredited testing methodsDemonstrable skills in general bookkeeping procedures or principlesKnowledge of payroll systems, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accounting ledgerKnowledge of MS Excell and other standard MS Office programsStrong interest in business and finance related subjectsPossession of excellent working knowledge and application of dataExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to coordinate multiple concurrent activities Education and Experience: Demonstrable understanding of Quickbooks softwareAn associate’s degree in accounting and/or completion of other certification courses related to accountingAt least three years of related experience in bookkeeping and/or accountingGovernment accounting background a plus Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
