Job Description
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Budget Coordinator. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Budget and Contract Director. The position is located in Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada .
The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions : two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.
The Senior Budget Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of all System Computing Services budgets and programs using Workday budget and accounting tools, comprehensive spreadsheets, and preparation and processing of journal vouchers, accounting adjustments, and budget amendments. On a very limited basis, this position may initiate and process requisitions and contracts on behalf of System Computing Services.
This position will also be responsible for System Administration's review and processing of payment, purchasing, travel reimbursements, grant-in-aid (GIA) and scholarship documents, and reconciliation of System Administration accounts. The position is responsible for creating requisitions for some System Administration goods, service, and independent contractor purchase orders. This position may prepare and process journal vouchers, accounting adjustments, and budget amendments on behalf of System Administration. This position may be a Workday representative for SA Finance, as it relates to budget and financial transactions.
STARTING SALARY : Grade C (Starting salary range is approximately : $65,000 - $75,000 and is commensurate with education, experience, and training.) Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits.
APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE : March 1, 2025
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and five (5) years of professional experience (or) a master's degree in relevant field with three (3) years of experience (or) associate's degree with seven (7) years of professional experience (or) the equivalent of ten (10) years of related professional experience.
Experience in higher education is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Successful candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities. It is recommended that applicants for this position address each of the following items in the letter of application :
Possess appropriate communication, organization, and analytical skills
Journey level budget and finance knowledge / experience in the use of Workday, web-based applications, and knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Be able to work independently without supervision and with a high degree of accuracy
Budget maintenance, practices and procedures including report preparation
Demonstrated experience in business or finance related areas
Experience working with NSHE policies and procedures is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES : The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to :
Assist the Budget and Contract Director in the ongoing oversight of SCS fiscal transactions and budget management.
Day-to-day processing of System Administration payment documents and limited System Computing Services payment documents
Processing of travel reimbursements, GIA, and scholarship documents for System Administration
Reconciliation and verification of budgets and compliance with System Administration, NSHE and State policies and procedures
Overseeing the accuracy of a limited number of System Computing Services accounts payables and receivables
Preparing and initiate intercompany journals and invoices for reimbursements and payments on behalf of System Computing Services
Oversight and processing of some System Administration purchase orders and independent contractor agreements.
Monitoring and affecting the fiscal year open and close for System Computing Services
Tracking, updating, and maintaining inventory for the System Office locations in Las Vegas and Reno in "AssetWorks" (the Asset Management Software System), and producing inventory reports as required. This responsibility excludes System Computing Services.
Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly budget and financial reports for System Computing Services. May assist SA Business Manager in developing budget and financial reports.
