Position Overview :
The Director of Engineering will lead the Controls department at Nevados, overseeing the development, production, implementation, and maintenance of the control systems that power our All-Terrain Tracker. As the head of the Controls function, this role will manage and mentor a team of Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring successful collaboration and alignment with company goals. The Director of Controls will act as the strategic leader for the department, focusing on innovation, scalability, and performance improvements across our control systems.
This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Operations, and Software Development, to deliver reliable, cutting-edge solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a deep understanding of embedded systems, industrial control applications, and team management.
This is a hybrid remote position. Candidates are expected to be in the office at our HQ in Oakland a few times weekly to manage the team and to work on hardware.
Responsibilities :
- Lead, mentor, and grow the Controls department.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
- Develop and execute the Controls department's roadmap and strategy to align with company initiatives.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of Nevados' control systems, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of embedded Linux systems, wired / wireless networking, and firmware for Nevados products.
- Ensure high standards in code quality, system testing, and deployment processes.
- Drive best practices and accountability with the hardware manufacturers for Nevados first party hardware as well as third party suppliers
- Collaborate with Sales to integrate projected project awards into resource planning.
- Work with Operations to align delivery timelines and system requirements
- Partner with Software Development to ensure seamless integration with cloud-based dashboards and other software platforms.
- Provide guidance to Field Service and Customer Support teams during installation, configuration, and maintenance of controls systems.
- Develop and document processes to automate and streamline device configuration and maintenance.
