About the Role:
Nevell Group, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator – ACT to join our Ceiling Division in Carlsbad, CA. This is a dynamic role that spans the full construction life cycle—from project conception and estimating to project management and closeout.
The Estimator – ACT plays a key role in identifying opportunities, developing cost-effective proposals, tracking project costs, and ensuring accurate project forecasting and performance. This is a full-time role that blends estimating, strategic planning, and hands-on project oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full life cycle of ceiling division projects—from bidding to execution.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and materials to develop accurate estimates.
- Review contract terms and ensure full compliance by the project team.
- Track and analyze project costs including labor, materials, and subcontracts.
- Oversee procurement of subcontractors and materials with a focus on value and efficiency.
- Coordinate submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation with internal teams.
- Lead and participate in job start meetings, client meetings, and internal project reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors.
- Monitor construction schedules and manpower to meet project timelines.
- Proactively identify project risks and collaborate to develop mitigation strategies.
- Guide and mentor junior estimators and project engineers.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 3 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
- Experience with acoustical ceilings or specialty walls/ceilings is highly desired.
Technical Skills & Software:
- Proficient in OST, QuickBid, BlueBeam, and Accounting Software.
- Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with scheduling software is a plus.
Qualifications & Attributes:
- Deep understanding of the bid process and construction workflows.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and sometimes noisy environment.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and developing junior staff.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License and proof of insurance required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic construction environment.
