Responsibilities of the Nursing Unit Manager:
- Ensures that policies and guidelines specific to Clinical Operations as applicable are followed and provide educations, support and consultation to residents and family members, and works closely with the Rehabilitation Department to ensure care activities are geared to the individual resident’s needs.
- Assesses resident’s needs and ensures that individualized plans of care are developed and followed.
- Communicates resident’s needs to physicians and practitioners and offers interventions and solutions in an effort to reduce unplanned hospital transfers.
- Engages daily with the interdisciplinary team to ensure care is provided effectively and discharge goals and objectives are met.
- Reviews daily nursing documentation for accuracy and completion. Monitors the Point Click Care Dashboard throughout day to ensure that outstanding dashboard items are addressed timely.
- Ensures that residents and family education needs are identified and required teaching occurs in preparation for discharge.
- Demonstrates the ability to assign and direct the nursing and C.N.A staff, daily, on the unit based on the number and needs of the residents residing on the unit. This includes ensuring Nursing and C.N.A huddles occur on each shift to review the resident plan of care.
- Monitors Nurse Aide documentation in Point of Care to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensures that Monthly Nursing Summaries are assigned and completed as required.
- Participates in the QAPI program and is able to apply process to daily work and systems of the unit.
- At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience, Subacute and long term preferred.
- Ability to manage and direct subordinates.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate and work well with others including the residents, families, and co-workers.
- A Licensed Nurse (RN or LPN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
