New Age Laboratoriesis currently looking to hire a Sample Receiving Technician to join our laboratory team here in South Haven, Michigan!
Position Summary: The Sample Receiving Technician is responsible for managing the receipt, documentation, and organization of incoming samples from clients, ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout the process. This role requires attention to detail and collaboration with various departments to maintain high-quality standards for analysis and client service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Receive, log, and verify samples from walk-in customers, freight (USPS, UPS, FedEx), or NAL agents, ensuring proper documentation is attached (e.g., sample submission forms [SSF], Chain-of-Custody [COC]).
- Review sample labels and conditions to confirm proper identification and compliance with submission requirements.
- Assign Sample Delivery Group (SDG) IDs and lab sample IDs
- Enter submission into client account
- Enter submission data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Contact clients for clarification or additional information to ensure accuracy in sample identification, test codes, and contents.
- Help maintain client accounts in the project database.
- Transfer samples to the designated areas for analysis.
- Ensure sample integrity is preserved throughout the process.
- Support quality control and continuous improvement initiatives, collaborating with the Sample Intake Manager to enhance data management.
- Identify and report deviations from quality systems or test procedures in accordance with the complaint system.
- Maintain a clean and organized sample receiving area.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provide support for front office customer service and manage phone traffic as needed.
- Assist client services with the preparation of customized client forms.
Tertiary Responsibilities:
- Prepare outgoing packages for shipping and coordinate with vendors for pick-up.
- Ensure compliance with shipping procedures and proper documentation.
- Prepare and document samples for shipment to external testing facilities as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in data entry.
- Strong typing and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of microbiology and chemistry (preferred).
- Familiarity with software for data entry and report generation.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities to track samples and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- General office skills, including typing, filing, and other administrative tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift packages weighing 10-50 pounds.
- Capability to remain standing for extended periods, particularly during peak season.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Flexibility to assist in additional tasks as needed to support departmental needs.
