TITLE : Electrician

PAY RANGE 21 : $23.41 To $24.51 (based on experience and education as written in the handbook)
SCHEDULE : 8 hours daily / 260 days 7 : 00am-3 : 30pm
REPORTS TO : Assistant Director of Facilities

SUMMARY : Performs perform a variety of journeyman-level electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Technical and / or vocation school or apprenticeship as an electrician required.
- 4 years experience in an apprenticeshipe would be equivalent to a journeyman.
- Valid Driver's License required - this positions requires the use of district vehicles and candidates must meet the requirements to drive those vehicles (21 years old and a good driving record)
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions / directions
RESPONSIBILITITES :
Install, maintain and repair a variety of electrical systems, parts and equipment including electrical circuits, conduits, light fixtures, fans, generators, appliances, control devices, switchers, outlets and electrical motors.Install or replace necessary interior and exterior wiring for equipment, appliances, fire alarms, master clocks and lighting; perform repairs to related electrical equipment.Install, repair, adjust and service electrical motors; replace bearings, pulleys, belts and other parts.Install new power lines in building alteration or construction; run new lines and connect electrical source to irrigation system controllers and timers.Observe and comply with federal, State and local electrical and building codes and fire regulations.Operate a variety of tools and power equipment including saws, drills, voltage testers, ohmmeter and soldering equipment and other maintenance tools and equipment.Work from sketches, plans, drawing, blueprints and specifications.Complete and maintain records of work orders including labor and materials used.Repair or replace electrical fixtures, parts and components as necessary.Perform soldering operations incidental to electrical duties.Assist in ordering, receiving and storing supplies and equipment; contact vendors to order or obtain information concerning parts and equipment; obtain prices and determine total cost of labor and materials as assigned.The ability to properly and safely move and set up ladders, scaffolding, and aerial work platforms (manlifts).The ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial work platforms (manlifts) at heights up to 50'.The lift / move weight amount should be raised to #50.The ability to cross over into other trades when it is practical to do so.Must maintain a service vehicle. This includes stocking, keeping tools and material clean and organized.Other reasonable duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his / her employment in the Corporation.
Salary : $23 - $25
