Job Description
TITLE: Plumbing Apprenticeship Instructor
CLASSIFICATION: Certified
LOCATION: Prosser Career Education Center
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Plumbing Theory as it relates to plumbing and pipefitting systems.
- Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Plumbing and Pipefitting Systems.
- Knowledge of the National and State Plumbing Code
- Minimum 4 Years in a related occupation. Degree preferred but not required.
- Completion of a Federally Approved Apprenticeship is preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Plumbing License in Kentucky and/or Indiana required. Must be able to provide evidence of licensure, and licensing exam results. Candidates who were grandfathered into licensure will be required to sit for the State Plumbing exam to confirm eligibility.
- Basic computer literacy is required.
- Demonstrated interest in working with youth. Competent in math, verbal, and written skills. Teaching experience preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above as the Administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach all aspects of the Plumbing and/or Pipefitting Apprenticeship program.
- Participate in the Construction Trades Project house yearly.
- Support and participate in Skills USA club activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
- Be responsible for the maintenance of materials, supplies, equipment, and facilities used in the program classrooms and labs.
- Maintain active Craft Advisory Board.
- Interact with local industry support businesses, and work to secure Job Shadowing, Micro-Internship, and Internship opportunities for student experiences.
- Participate in the Open House event annually to promote the program. Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and current educational practices; utilizes varied instructional strategies and activities.
- Establishes, communicates, and encourages high standards of student performance.
- Should be able to monitor, assess, and provide appropriate feedback on student performance and progress.
- Keeps attendance reports.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Performs non-instructional duties affecting the school program.
- Implements school policy and pertinent law.
- Participates in professional development activities; participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Prepares teaching outlines for courses of study, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers.
- Administers tests to evaluate students' progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom, school building, and school grounds.
- Performs related duties, such as sponsoring one or more special activities or student organizations, assisting students in selecting courses of study, and counseling them on adjustment and academic problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or other designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
Job Requirements

- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
