What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Surgical Assistant position at New Albany Oral Surgery?
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of surgical assisting duties, in compliance with state regulations, to promote quality dental care for patients in a stress-free, comfortable environment. Assists the doctor with multiple surgical procedures, communicates effectively with patients, maintains equipment and inventory, obtain radiographs, and adheres to all OSHA requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Review patients’ medical history and records
- Obtain radiographs as needed
- Chart and record treatment information in chart
- Prepare patients for diagnosis and/or treatment
- Assist surgeon and anticipate needs during surgical procedures
- Recover patients
- Perform post-operative patient care
- Clean and stock operatories
- Perform instrument sterilization and infection control
- Prepare surgical instruments for procedures
- Control inventory of clinical supplies and order as needed
- Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and privacy policies at all times
- Assist with the implementation of marketing strategies such as asking for referrals and testimonials
- Other duties as assigned
DESIRED SKILLS
- High school graduate
- Radiology certification
- Radiography –digital sensors
- Sterilization– autoclaves, ultrasonic, handpiece equipment
- Experience utilizing practice management software
