Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for managing quality systems in the day-to-day plant setting. Generates and implements quality and food safety initiatives. This position oversees quality technicians in the Harvest/Fabrication Department. Responsibilities include communicating directives, compliance with appropriate policies and programs, identification of quality opportunities, corrective action initiatives and follow-up.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes a safe working environment following company, state and federal safety policies, regulations and laws.
- Schedules Quality Technicians and other support for Harvest/Fabrication as needed. Verifies performance of quality technicians.
- Assures Quality conformance to specifications and expectations for all products and processes. Follows up with management on all exceptions and corrective actions. Communicates quality programs and specifications to quality team.
- Disposition of held goods (raw, finished and in process) including communication and execution of sampling plans.
- Execute HACCP programs.
- Works with sensory teams to assure that program is operating in accordance with expectations.
- Develops/trains quality team members and hourly personnel in quality awareness, food safety and other related areas.
- Monitors BRC program effectiveness and conformance.
- Works with customers on quality initiatives for products, programs and processes as directed.
- Works with upper level management team on new product and product improvement initiatives. Coordinates collection and shipment of samples and data as requested.
- Reviews raw material quality information for conformance to standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, in food science or a related field, and at least 1 year experience, depending on quality of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HACCP Certified preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills a must.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the US.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests to be eligible for employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse workforce and upper management.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in cold/hot environments.
Work Environment: Occasional office work.
