Do you have experience that can help support New Avenues mission to lift young people facing houselessness and provide them with the skills and resources to lead healthy, independent lives. New Avenues for Youth seeks a dedicated and compassionate New Day LGBTQIA2S Mentor for Survivors of Sex Trafficking to join our New Day team.

As a Mentor at New Day, you'll be supporting staff serving as a consistent and intentional guide for youth navigating difficult paths. Your skills and experience will provide the assistance needed for these direct service staff to maximize their time engaging with the young people that we serve.

Who You Are:

  • Knowledgeable: You bring either lived experience or expert learned experience about the commercial sex trades and/ or sex trafficking to this role.

  • Equitable: You understand how systemic oppression impacts the lives of youth in programs and the systems that influence these struggles. You approach this world with humility and a deep sense of growth and learning.

What You'll Do:

  • 1:1 Support: Provide culturally specific and/ or culturally responsive case management, advocacy, and mentorship in a a variety of settingsto a caseload of 15-20 youth who are predominantly LGBTQIA2S
  • Goal Plan: Work with youth survivors to identify goals and support in strategizing and reducing barriers to meet their goals
  • Crisis Support: Support youth in navigating crisis, provide crisis interventions as appropriate
  • Data Compliance: Maintain required documentation including case notes
  • This position is based at the Youth CNCT building at 41 SE 102nd Avenue and launches in to community to meet with youth, returning to Youth CNCT or other New Avenues locations between meetings and at the end of the day

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with high risk youth or providing mentorship services OR a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology or related human services field experience required. Individuals with lived experience and folks in the LGBTQIA2S and BIPOC community are specifically encouraged to apply!
  • Prior experience engaging youth who face multiple barriers, preferably around contexts associated with exploitation

· Proficiency in basic communication and technical skills, including composing professional emails, operating a phone system, and using standard computer applications

· Possess a valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle which will be used for transporting youth as part of mentorship
