Shift Available: Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 5pm.
**Bilingual Required** (Fluency Required in English and in either Portuguese, Spanish, or Creole)!

The Community Health Worker (CHW) is a position within our Care Department. Our Community Health Workers (CHW) at New Bedford Community Health are a vital resource for both our clinical staff and our patients. They help our patients and their families to navigate and access a multitude of community services, and other resources to help them beyond the clinical services that we can provide. With patience, compassion and empathy, our CHW staff make it easier for our patients to get the support and assistance they need. At the same time, by taking on the challenging task of researching and connecting with other facilities and community agencies, our CHWs save clinical staff time that they can use to focus on providing clinical care to patients.

- A Comprehensive/Critical Listener who observes covert signs to recognize social and psychosocial needs.
- Someone good under pressure who responds appropriately in emergencies and or intense situations.
- Someone resourceful who assists in initiating referrals and utilizing available resources within and outside the facility.
- Communicates Effectively in a culturally competent manner
- Aware and sensitive to unique needs of patients with HIV and other related health conditions.
- A patient champion who defends and preserves the rights of patients.
- Someone organized and has time management skills
- Someone tech savvy who will document in the electronic health record.
What You’ll Need:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Experience: 1 to 2 years experience working in a community-based and multi-cultural setting preferred
- Fluency in Speaking Spanish, Portuguese, Creole or Kekchi required
- CHW License Preferred
