OFFICIAL TITLE:Early Education and Care Instructor
WORKING TITLE:Early Education
WORK YEAR:In accordance with the Unit A contract
REPORTS TO:Principal
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION
Provide rigorous lessons aligned to the MA State Curriculum Frameworks and Early Education and Care Standards and Curriculum guidelines, and that promote independent thinking, creative problem solving, and intellectual curiosity for all students.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
1.Minimum three years of experience as a teacher
2.Familiarity with Early Education and Care Standards and Curriculum Guidelines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education under Family and Consumer Science, or Chapter 74 Early Education and Care.
3. A demonstrated belief that each and every student can achieve at high levels.
4. A demonstrated dedication to lifelong learning, reflection, and continued personal and professional growth.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Outstanding interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skills.
7. Bilingual in Spanish or multilingual and bicultural strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, reaching, fine manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.

CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements: Must possess licensure in Family and Consumer Science or Chapter 74 Early Education and Care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in curriculum content connected to successful employability within the Early Education and Care career pathways.
Skills: Experienced in delivering instruction connected to skills within the Chapter 74 Early Education and Care frameworks.
Abilities: Attention to detail and ability to evaluate student competencies in Early Education and Care.
EXAMPLES OF PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Plan and implement instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed State Frameworks.
2.Use of data to inform instruction, to track student progress and to track progress of self through self-evaluation and goal setting.
3.Deliver engaging, targeted instruction that meets MA DESE Standards and Early Education and Care standards.
4.Differentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths.
5.Maintain active communication with students’ families in support of their learning and to communicate with families consistently and regularly throughout the school year about their children’s academic and social progress.
6.Assess student performance using formal, summative, and portfolio assessments to drive instruction.
7.Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
