- Assistant Principal
- To assist the principal in fulfilling his/her chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school.
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Works collaboratively as a member of the Elementary School administrative team.
- Assumes responsibility for curriculum supervision and instruction for Elementary School.
- Coordinates all curriculum development and implementation with the principal, directors, teachers, etc.
- Assumes responsibility for the administration of the schools testing program, i.e. MCAS, etc.
- Assists the Principal in the development, implementation and follow-up of all professional development initiatives.
- Works with directors and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.
- Performs such record keeping functions as the principal may direct.
- Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives during and after school day, with some evening assignments.
- Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary.
- Assists the principal in supervising co-curricular activities.
- Assists the principal in the scheduling of teachers and students.
- Assists in the proposal of schedules of classes and co-curricular activities.
- Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducting inventories, maintaining records, and checking on receipts for such materials.
- Assumes the responsibility for the coordination and assignment of substitute personnel, as necessary.
- Assist the principal in evaluating all teachers according to the Unit A Contract.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
- Certified as an elementary school principal by the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, with at least five years of successful teaching experience or administrative experience at the primary level.
- Evidence of administrative and leadership ability.
- Evidence of capacity and disposition to work cooperatively with pupils, parents, teachers, staff, and school administrators.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Elementary School Concept highly preferred.
- History of outstanding attendance at work and school activities.
- Familiarity with No Child Left Behind rules and regulations, School Improvement Planning and IDEA.
