What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Coaches position at New Bedford Public Schools?

Position:
- Head Coach - Softball
- Head Coach - Baseball
- Head Coach – Girls Spring Track
- Teach all aspects of the sport through fundamentals in daily practice sessions.
- Recruit and maintain an active team roster for the team to develop a competitive team.
- Develop and evaluate each athlete’s performance.
- Conduct and supervise all practices.
- Schedule and attend all contests.
- Supervises the proper use of equipment and technique for the sport.
- Participates in special events such as banquets, pep rallies, and senior/awards nights.
- Distributes uniforms and equipment to student athletes as instructed by the head coach.
- Attends professional development events to improve coaching skills.
- Ensures nondiscriminatory practices.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, or Athletic Director/Principal
- Previous experience as an assistant coach in specified sport or related participation in the sport
- Thorough knowledge of the game and current coaching techniques
- Must have strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Complete understanding of the rules, strategies, and regulations of the sport
- Proven ability to coach and supervise student athletes.
- Reports to: Athletic Director
- Rate: In accordance with the NBEA Unit A union contract found here
