YOUTH PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview and General Summary
New Beginnings Church is seeking a part-time, associate (licensed, or ordained) Youth Pastor with a
strong faith and passion for biblical teaching, and discipleship. This position focuses on children and
youth, from birth to 12th grade. It includes but is not limited to working Sunday mornings, monthly,
weekday, and Tuesday evening events, and partnering with parents and volunteers to encourage youth
to become life-long followers of Jesus Christ.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, master’s preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years of
experience relative to church youth programs, leading or supporting children’s and/or youth
ministry required.
- Able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, with expectations that 25 – 40 hours may be
required during certain times of year or seasons of ministry.
- Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule, effort levels, and time commitments consistent
with a professional staff position.
- Must be biblically sound and exhibit personal conduct that reflects positively on the integrity of
the church.
- Always maintains confidentiality in all matters of the church, employees, and/or church
members or potential church members.
- Technologically fluent including Microsoft Office products, desktop publishing/graphic design,
social media, and other web content.
- Exceptionally strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.

accountability, networking, conferences, and seminars that are related to the ministry.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Ministry with Youth:
- Plan, coordinate, and promote a balanced youth ministry in the areas of worship, discipleship,
Bible study, mission, outreach, group building, and summer and weekend trips. * Work in partnership with the Youth Council to develop a culture of ministry with youth that
allows for faithful interactions with the Bible and caring Christian teenagers. Along with
developing program goals, facilities, and finances for the ministry.
- Provide pastoral care to youth and their families; develop and nurture relationships by visiting
families and attending youth activities.
- Maintain a calendar of youth activities and communicate current activities to youth and parents.
- Collaborate with other ministers to provide opportunities for youth to actively serve others in
their areas of passion or interest.
Partnering with Parents:
- Develop an outreach strategy for new and inactive youth to help them connect with other youth
and engage in church ministries.
- Develop and execute a clear communication strategy for parents.
- Develop an overall strategy to come alongside parents to help develop the spiritual formation of
their youth.
- Study and stay up to date on issues of today’s young people to support parents.
Training and Equipping the Church:
- Recruit and train volunteer leaders to serve as mentors, small group leaders, Sunday morning
Bible study leaders, and other areas of youth ministry.
- Develop intentional ways for youth and adults to develop intergenerational relationships.
- Administration - work with the Youth Council Team Leader to develop, coordinate, and monitor
the annual Youth Ministry Budget.
- Maintain all documents, policies, and procedures of the Youth Programs to ensure
standardization.
