Job Overview
The Foster Care Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of a foster care program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves supervising staff, developing policies, coordinating with child welfare agencies, and ensuring the well-being of children placed in foster care. The director will work closely with foster families, caseworkers, and community organizations to provide high-quality services for children in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight & Compliance:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality foster care services.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local child welfare laws and regulations.
- Oversee licensing and certification processes for foster families.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Recruit, train, and supervise case managers, social workers, and support staff.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Foster Family & Child Support:
- Oversee the placement of children in suitable foster homes.
- Ensure foster parents receive proper training, support, and resources.
- Address concerns from foster families and advocate for children's best interests.
- Develop and implement strategies for foster parent retention and recruitment.
Community Relations & Partnerships:
- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
- Advocate for policy changes and funding to support foster care initiatives.
- Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and public forums.
Financial Management & Fundraising:
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities, including grants and donations.
- Oversee financial reporting and compliance with funding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local child welfare laws and regulations.
- Oversee licensing and certification processes for foster families.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in supervising teams within a social work or behavioral health context.
- Strong budgeting skills with a track record of managing financial resources effectively.
- Demonstrated ability in program development, including designing and implementing initiatives that support individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Excellent administrative skills, including proficiency in documentation and reporting requirements.
- Experience working directly with people who have developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective relationship management with staff, clients, families, and community partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $53,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
