Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in long-term care settings and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents. This role requires a blend of caregiving skills, empathy, and the ability to advocate for resident rights while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive living environment.
- Ensure resident rights are respected and upheld at all times.
- Help with mobility assistance, including lifting and transferring residents as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in living spaces to promote a safe environment.
- Document care provided and report all changes in residents' conditions to the supervising staff.
- Drive residents to appointments or community activities when required.
- Participate in training sessions on first aid and caregiving best practices.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure comprehensive care for all residents.
Experience
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or group home settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Knowledge of resident rights and best practices in caregiving is essential.
- Basic first aid certification is desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
