NEW Boces in Gillette, WY is looking for one occupational therapist (part time) to join our team!
Position Summary
The Registered Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and providing therapy services to students with fine motor, sensory, and functional skill deficits. This role involves collaboration with educators, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure students achieve their educational and developmental goals.
Essential Functions
- Therapeutic Services
- Administers occupational therapy procedures and modalities to achieve program objectives.
- Provides direct therapy to enhance students’ daily living skills in compliance with established goals and objectives.
- Assessment & Planning
- Evaluates students' fine motor skills and functional abilities (e.g., hand function, motor coordination, sensory development).
- Develops individualized treatment plans and interventions tailored to students’ needs.
- Identifies structural barriers and recommends assistive technology or adaptations as needed.
- Collaboration & Consultation
- Works with parents, teachers, physicians, administrators, and other professionals to communicate information and resolve issues.
- Consults with team members to align therapy services with educational objectives and provide recommendations for student success.
- Instruction & Training
- Instructs students, staff, and families on medical/behavioral attributes and proper use of assistive devices.
- Trains staff in implementing therapy plans and understanding students’ needs.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Ensures adaptive equipment for daily living and classroom use is properly constructed and in good working order.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintains accurate files and records (e.g., treatment plans, progress reports, activity logs).
- Prepares comprehensive written materials such as memos, correspondence, and reports.
- Research & Resource Development
- Investigates treatment techniques, assessment tools, and community resources to enhance therapy services.
- Compliance & Professional Development
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to gather and share knowledge.
- Ensures therapy plans comply with regulatory and institutional requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed or registered Occupational Therapist as required by Wyoming state regulations.
- Experience: Prior experience in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Competence in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Physical Demands
- Frequent movement, including bending, lifting, and transporting equipment.
- Ability to work with students in various environments, including classrooms and therapy rooms.
