What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst position at New Braunfels Utilities?
The Data Analyst is responsible for all phases of reporting, decision support and data analysis activities including gathering business requirements, data audit, design and creation of dashboards and other reporting media, and presentations to different levels of management. We will build models to help with forecasting, asset optimization, customer insights and provide historical and current trending.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain and optimize existing source systems and integrations
- Identify and implement business process improvements
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources (including data from 3rd Party partner’s systems) and maintain databases/data systems
- Iteratively build up complex ETL processes; check the accuracy of the steps
- Build and maintain efficient ETL processes including data cleansing solutions
- Tell stories through visualizations including executive and operational dashboards using multiple data sources
- Analyze large amounts of data from multiple internal and external systems and build complex, predictive statistical models
- Create integrations to establish and preserve a methodical, organized flow of data across systems
- Maintain data integrity throughout the enterprise systems the department is responsible for and lead the charge for data governance
- Creative problem solver with a strong sense of ownership
- Ability to think critically and analyze data trends for operational risk and efficiencies
- Detail oriented with good organizational and presentation skills
- Helping develop reports and analysis
- Managing and designing the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata
- Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing
- Perform basic data management, data cleaning and statistical analysis using SAS, R, Python, or other statistical programming language

EDUCATION
- Bachelors Degree (Business)
- One or more years work experience
OTHER
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business, Data Analysis, Data Science, Information Systems or related field from an institution accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
