What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Attendant position at New Buffalo Animal Hospital?
New Buffalo Animal Hospital is seeking a responsible and compassionate Kennel Attendant to join our team. The Kennel Attendant will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our animal guests, including feeding, cleaning, and providing exercise and socialization. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Feed and water animals according to their individual needs
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other common areas
- Provide exercise and socialization for animals
- Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to the Vet Techs
- Administer medication and treatments as directed by the Veterinarian or Vet Tech
- Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and behavior
- Take care of our clinic pets
- Laundry
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with animals preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. The position may also require bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with exposure to animal hair, dander, and odors
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- The position may also require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
