The New Canaan YMCA is looking to EXPAND our team of Swim Instructors to help children learn water safety and swimming skills.
Haven’t taught swim lessons before? No problem, our Senior Director of Aquatics will train you and provide you the curriculum needed to work with children of various ages and levels – what we need is your passion, enthusiasm, and attention to safety.
This is a great part-time opportunity for students, teachers, retirees, or anyone wanting to stay actively employed with flexible scheduling.
Swim lessons are usually offered once a week, for 8 week sessions (except for summer, which are offered 5 days a week, in weekly sessions). Instructors are asked to commit to the entire session to allow students continuity with instruction.
Shifts needed are:
- 3pm to 7pm Mondays through Thursdays
- 8am to 12pm Saturdays
- 9am to 12pm Mondays through Thursdays
We expect our Swim Instructors to be observant to their surroundings, understanding of safety rules and policies, and able to communicate with swimmers, families, and other staff to maintain order and safety in the pool and on deck.
Qualifications
Requirements include:
- General knowledge of swimming and aquatic safety.
- Strong communication skills
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (will provide training and testing if needed)
- Experience working with children preferred

Salary : $17 - $21
