Rainbow Station, the Infant and Preschool program at the New Canaan YMCA is looking for enthusiastic, energetic and nurturing candidates to join our team.
Our classroom teachers work together to provide a program which fosters children's social, physical, emotional and cognitive growth. Our childcare classes participate with other YMCA programming departments/staff, including professional swim instruction, Bouncing Bears gymnastic time, music classes and more, all within the regular weekly schedule.
We offer small classrooms, divided into yearly age brackets - allowing candidates to indicate their preference for working with infants (6 week to a year), Toddlers (1s or 2s), or Preschool (3s or 4s) - or to be "floaters" across classrooms.
We are currently looking for SUBSTITUTES who can fill in while full-time staff are out on vacations or leaves of absence, or who may be available on short-term notice to fill in for an unexpected teacher sick-day.
Our center is open Mondays through Fridays, from 7:30am to 6pm - and we'd like to hear about your availability and interest in:
- Morning Shift (7:15 am - 2:30 pm)
- Afternoon Shift (11 am - 6 pm)
- Full-Day Shifts (7:15 am - 6 pm)
- as well as your availability/flexibility as a substitute
Successful Candidates will possess:
- High School diploma
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development
- A "Safety First" mindset
- Excellent communication skills and an abundance of patience
- Punctual and reliable
- A love of singing, storytelling, imaginative play and crafts
- Responsive and flexible to the needs of the program
- Ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents of participants
