What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialty Basketball Clinic Coach position at New Canaan Community YMCA, Inc.?
The New Canaan YMCA seeks a well-organized basketball group leader who loves the sport of basketball and is certified (preferred) in basketball in order to teach youth the skills and techniques of the game of basketball.
This is your opportunity to help build a life-long appreciation and enjoyment for the sport of basketball.
Candidates should be able to teach all levels of talent and encourage young athletes to achieve the next level with group practice.

Group leader must be able to maintain attention, order, interest, and skill challenges.
KNOW-HOW
- Certified Basketball coach in State of Connecticut (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience working in a league structure (asset).
- Experience working with youths.
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (preferred).
- Communicate well with parents.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
- Supervise and plan all clinics ran by YMCA.
- Develop and implement structured lesson plans.
- Liaison with parents and other YMCA representatives.
- Communicate with YMCA director and clinic progress.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior at practice, clinics and during games.
- Successfully lead fun and active programs that develop children’s skills.
- Supervise all children on team once they are dropped off at practice and until the final participant has been picked up and signed out (you may not leave the gym until your whole team has been picked up and signed out)..
- Regularly demonstrate behaviors in each of the YMCA Four Core Values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
