What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beginners Support Staff (Ages 3-5) position at New Canaan Country School?
New Canaan Country School, a Pre-K through Grade 9 co-ed, independent day school, serves approximately 570 students from diverse backgrounds living in 18 different towns / cities across Fairfield and Westchester counties. Early Childhood at Country School serves approximately 100 students ages 3 to 6 in Beginners and Kindergarten. Our teachers support the school's educational mission and core values of community, courage, curiosity, and kindness. A strong teacher presence and low student-teacher ratio help usher children through these critical formative years.
A Beginners Support Teacher would work alongside Lead Teachers to support a mission-focused learning environment for up to 14 students. We are looking for someone to assist teachers during the afternoon, helping children transition from lunch to rest and then to a play-based activity. This is a part-time, 8 hours / week position for the 2024-25 school year.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Beginners Teachers
- Supporting and modeling positive discipline
- Be available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1 : 00-3 : 00 on school days
