WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Ag Field Technician will aid the entire Ag Operations team and Ag Food Safety Department. The Ag Op’s team members will collaborate and develop weekly sampling schedules based on process requirements. Collaborating with GIS Manager, Ag Compliance Manager and Farm Managers/Assistant Managers for sampling soils, petioles, irrigation water and carrots. These samples are used for Food Safety, Organic Certification, R&D and precision agriculture program. Most of the time will be spent on the road and in the field along with planning, shipping, or delivering samples.
- Visit fields to collect samples, using GPS technology to navigate sample location.
- Maintain and organize paperwork associated with each sample taken.
- Collect GPS locations of wells, field locations or other requested data.
- Monitor fields to understand and communicate when soil, tissue, MRL and carrot samples can be taken.
- Work with Food Safety team on field assessments, irrigation water, hand washing water, or compost sampling in accordance with the required timeframe.
- Be prepared to drive to producer fields throughout California, Arizona and Washington, if necessary, for sample collection.
- Travel is required with overnight stays on occasion when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision to complete required tasks on schedule.
- Will be required to participate in all training programs.
- Must be punctual, have an excellent attendance record and cooperate well with others.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, bilingual is preferred.
- Must be able to troubleshoot situations, i.e. computer, GPS, field conditions.
- Must have a fair amount of computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word.
- Must have excellent organizational skills to work efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work 75% of time in non-local areas and 25% in local areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to carry/lift up to 50 pounds.
- Environmental exposure- seasonal outdoor temperatures (40° or below), heat (99° or above), wet, and darkened conditions.
- Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, airborne particles and vibrations.
- Ability to ascend and descend ramps, steps, ladders, stairs using three-point contact.
- Ability to walk over uneven surfaces in carrot fields.
- Must be able to stand/sit for an extended period of time.
- Occasional bending, reaching and lifting.
- Ability to get in and out of the vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
1s Shift – 7:00AM to 3:30PM;Monday through Friday. Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
