WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Truck Driver will onload/offload and transport liquid fertilizers to local ranches, operate a shuttle truck at the fertilizer plant, spot and set storage tanks. We are looking to hire a dedicated and focused local truck driver to deliver goods on behalf of our company. Other duties would include assisting with blending and plant maintenance when not transporting.
- Safe loading/unloading of liquid fertilizers, loading/unloading of storage tanks, performing general maintenance on the company truck, answering customers' questions, and notifying management of customer complaints.
- Ability to adjust local travel routes in instances of traffic congestion, road maintenance, and accidents.
- Safely transporting goods to and from specified locations according to company delivery schedules.
- Maintaining an accurate logbook of driving activities, detailing the number of hours worked, deliveries completed, and rest periods.
- Liaising with management to communicate any issues or delays.
- Properly secure goods to ensure that they are not damaged in transit.
- Assisting in the loading and unloading of goods as required.
- Obtaining signatures from customers upon completion of each delivery as necessary
- Notifying management of any accidents, parking tickets, vehicle damage, and major maintenance issues.
- Ensuring that the company truck is always clean and well-maintained.
- Safely Operate/Drive a flatbed truck to haul carrots and a low bow (tractor trailer) to haul equipment.
- Maintain accurate driver log per D.O.T rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of D.O.T and traffic regulations.
- Clearly and professionally fill out all required D.O.T paperwork.
- Always adhere to road safety regulations.
- Proven experience driving trucks.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate punctuality and ensure that all local deliveries are completed in a timely manner.
- An outstanding local truck driver should be able to effectively communicate with customers and management.
- The ability to utilize GPS and local road maps.
- The ability to operate hand trucks and forklifts.
- Effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving history
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior truck driver experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to carry/lift to 50lbs
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, reach, push and pull.
- Environmental exposure- seasonal outdoor temperatures, cold (40° or below), heat (99° or above), wet, dry, dusty, windy etc.
- Ability to grasp and climb steps and/or ladders.
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for an extended period of time.
- Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
1st Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
