WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Truck Driver & Service Technician will assist the department Lead Person and Assistant Manager by performing the required maintenance and repairs of Agricultural equipment. This person will be responsible for performing maintenance work such as inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing routine repair tasks on Carrot planters, Trap wagons, Tillage and related Ag. equipment. This person will be expected to support and follow Company safety policies as well as other policies. This person will be responsible for transporting agricultural related equipment and supplies to various locations. The ideal candidate will operate Company fleet equipment which consists of well-maintained 3- axle semi-trucks for pulling flatbeds, low-beds and enclosed cargo vans. This person is required to have at least 5 years of experience in the field of agricultural equipment repair and maintenance and equipment transportation. Assignments are performed with specified instructions, expected time limits and required acceptable quality in a shop and field environment will be required. This person will ensure that all equipment is safely operating at optimum condition
- Assist the area Lead Person in maintaining company Ag. and related equipment as required
- Routine updates and communication during the day with trucking dispatcher
- Will transport Ag Equipment and supplies to various locations throughout California
- Maintain accurate driver log per D.O.T. rules and regulations
- Maintain company Total Process Reliability (TPR)
- Must report and record any unsafe conditions
- Monitor equipment and assist in minor routine maintenance
- Report and record any vehicular and equipment defects found during pre/post trip inspections
- Will be driving to various locations with the possibility of over-night stays.
- Light in shop mechanical work will be required when workload permits
- Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics
- Follow company and department rules and policies
- Work directly and cooperate with the Department Supervisors and Managers to accomplish project goals as needed
- Maintain shop areas, job sites, clean and organized at all time
- Work in a productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
- Maintain a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation
- Maintain shop and job site safety
- Maintain assigned tools and equipment
- Report defective tools, equipment immediately to Lead / Management
- Load/unload equipment safely
- Operate Pilot vehicles to Assist in “Oversized” equipment pilot runs (Carrot Harvester relocations) to various locations
- Operates stationary and moving overhead cranes, forklifts, and any equipment needed to perform a job within safety guidelines
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Test and evaluate operation of Ag. and related equipment
- Repair, replace, adjust and align components of machinery
- Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment and machinery
- Examine parts for defects
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have a valid California Class A Driver’s License with Doubles Endorsement
- Speak English effectively
- Clearly and professionally fill out all required DOT paperwork
- Safely operate and load heavy equipment
- Safety and efficiently utilize the maximum capability of company hauling equipment
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others
- Work in productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of Arc / Mig welding and cutting methods
- Basic experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems
- Previous experience in “Total Process Reliability” (TPR) maintenance is a plus
- Ability to work in group setting
- Apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Minimum of 5 years verifiable hauling experience
- Knowledge of D.O.T. rules and regulations
- Safety quality when performing work
- Current HAZMAT endorsement (must obtain within 90 days of hire date at minimum)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and overnight stays as workload require
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience preferred
- Technical School
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to grasp and climb steps or ladders
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (i.e. hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, windy, etc.)
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull.
- Must be able to see and hear as required to properly perform job tasks
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 1st shift (7:00 am - 4:30 pm), Monday through Thursday (7:00 am – 3:30 pm Friday) when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory
