WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Weighmaster's responsibilities include weighing trucks entering and exiting the facility, directing incoming traffic, entering truck and trailer information into Red Prairie, and communicating any issues to the Shipping Office staff. This position is customer facing and is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing vehicles, shipments, and containers through the use of the scale house.
JOB DUTIES:
- Oversee inventory and coordinating shipping and receiving procedures.
- Responsible for weighing trucks entering/exiting, monitoring, and directing incoming traffic into the facility.
- Accurately entering truck and trailer information in Red Prairie.
- Communicate problems/discrepancies to the shipping office staff.
- Communicating with customers and vendors regarding products, materials, and services.
- Operating scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Directing visitors, customers, and delivery drivers to the South Guard house.
- Logging incoming loads into the computer inventory.
- Working with the Warehouse to confirm truck arrivals to yard/dock doors.
- Measure scale load and document using established criteria.
- Weighing customer trucks as they enter/exit the facility.
- Maintain a safe, organized working environment.
- Identify and report security breaches immediately to the appropriate team.
- Performs other duties as needed in support of business objectives.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School/GED or one to two years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
- 1-2 years previous experience in logistics environment
- Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Moderate computer proficiency
- Basic Math Skills
- Experience with communication with internal and external customers
Required Skill and Abilities:
- Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Basic mathematical and computer skills
- Apply common sense, understand, and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Red Prairie, and JD Edwards.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all employees and management personnel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Experience in trucking or in an industrial yard environment.
Physical Demands:
- Environmental exposure – cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below).
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis when assigned to perform work duties in the shipping area.
- Material exposure – moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time during the work period.
- Use hands or fingers to reach, handle, and to talk or to hear.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or climb steps.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
Weekend AM Shift 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM.Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
