New Connections Academy, a leader in providing special education services, is recruiting a Program Interventionist for an immediate opening. We are seeking a caring individual with a desire to help students achieve their goals to join our team.
QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience working with diverse learners. The ultimate candidate will be an experienced and tested individual who possesses a combination of the following:
- Education/Licensure: Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or equivalent. LBS1 endorsement preferred but not required.
Background/Skills: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with a special needs population. Experience working with students impacted by a variety of special needs (autism, other health impairments, emotional disabilities, specific learning disabilities, etc.) preferred. Experience implementing behavior support is a plus.
DUTIES:
New Connections Academy seeks an experienced candidate to work as a member of the team in our Restorative Interventions & Supports (RIS) office. The Program Interventionist is responsible for providing support to students referred to the RIS office. RIS staff must support students in all areas of the school day including academics, behavioral and social-emotional support. The Program Interventionist is responsible for entering and tracking data on interventions used for each student and presenting that data during team meetings. Additional responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: knowledge of special education policies and procedures, ability to learn and teach social skills to students using our SEL program, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaboratively create interventions. The Program Interventionist must acquire and maintain certification in the school’s Nonviolent Crisis Prevention; meet expectations and responsibilities in a timely fashion, understand the therapeutic process and implement strategies to foster student growth, communicate effectively with all staff and students, monitor classrooms, facilitate peer mediations, create student personal improvement plans, etc.
