5-12 GRADE VOCAL MUSIC PART-TIME TEACHER 2025-2026

New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Vocal Music Teacher for grades 5-12 (employment agreement renewable annually pending board approval) beginning in August 2025 to May 2026. The individual will work at the Liberty campus location, 3581 S. Kansas Ave., Springfield, MO. And Warrior Campus at 3801 S Cox Rd, Springfield, MO.
JOB SUMMARY
The role of the teacher is to engage and inspire students to learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women. The teacher will integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum, plan and implement a course of study to meet the individual needs of students, prepare and submit lesson plans, and assess student progress while demonstrating their own mastery of the subject matter taught. The teacher must also communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, students, administration, and faculty for the success of each student.
The music teacher must prepare students for concerts (Spring, Grandparents Day, and Christmas) and competitions with some travel involved. (A full job description will be provided upon interview).
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must have a valid Missouri (or from another state within the U.S) Teaching Certificate and hold an appropriate endorsement in the areas of instruction with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in the area of teaching. Furthermore, candidates must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ, and have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school.
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
The salary base for this position with the required minimum education is a proration of the full-time salary, which begins at $38,540 for a first-year teacher with certification, and the amount incrementally increases depending on your degree and number of years teaching. Fringe benefits for the part-time teacher can be provided by human resources upon request.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transport of objects (25-30lbs). Rarely, it may be necessary to lift up to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHOOL SETTING
Fluorescent-lit classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other areas where students may be. Noise levels will vary throughout the shift.
