New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for administrative leadership as a 5-8 Grade Intermediate, Middle School Principal (200 students). This position begins July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. The contract is renewable annually based on board approval.
JOB FUNCTION:
The 5-8 Principal is the spiritual, educational, and administrative leader of the intermediate/middle school division. His or her chief functions are to maintain the mission and vision of the school and to maintain the pursuit of the aims and objectives of the school as they apply to the intermediate and middle school grades.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
While it is impossible to detail each of the specific functions, the 5-8 Principal, as leader of the intermediate/middle school division, and a member of the Administrative Team and an advisor to the Chief Academic Officer, serves as a key member of the school’s overall administration.
Instructional Leadership

Instructional Leadership
- Assumes a leadership role, with the staff, in the development of curriculum.
- Understands the importance of good teaching techniques, and works with the teachers to improve classroom practices.
- Constructs a schedule that uses staff and space effectively and cooperatively with the Chief Academic Officer
- Is a leader in the implementation of the school’s philosophy and objectives in the classroom.
- Receives input from teachers and staff for the betterment of the academic program.
- Is knowledgeable and up-to-date in curriculum and instructional trends and development
Faculty-Staff Relations:
- Effectively evaluates personnel and programs, using accepted tools and methods.
- Is willing and able to delegate responsibility and authority to the staff.
- Is the professional leader for the staff.
- Participates in a continuous program of professional development for the staff.
- Keeps the staff informed.
- Inspires staff to the highest professional standards.
- Develops and maintains good staff morale and loyalty to the school.
- Implements sound personnel procedures.
- Recommends to the Chief Academic Officer staff members to be hired, following the procedures and qualifications of Board policy.
- Treats all personnel fairly and without favoritism or discrimination while insisting on the acceptable performance of duties.
- Interprets board policy to staff.
Organization and Management
- Makes decisions and is decisive when appropriate.
- Supervises the operations of the elementary division, including schedules, procedures, plant, equipment, and supplies.
- Recommends budget needs and expenditures to the Administrative Team according to school policy.
- Provides for the health and safety of the students and staff.

- Keeps parents and students informed.

- Assist with school accreditation
- Serves as a member of the Administrative Team.
- Prepares monthly reports for the Board of Directors
- Assists with grant writing and letter writing for direct mail appeals.
- Oversees intermediate/middle school activities.
- Assists in the supervising of athletic events grades 7-12.
- Monitors student attendance grades 5-8.
- Supervise campus before, during, and after school.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Academic Officer or that develops as a result of Administrative Team discussion.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

- Master’s Degree in Education Administration or advanced degree in Education Administration or Education Leadership (M).
- Must possess or qualify for Missouri certification as an elementary (K-4) or secondary (5-8) principal, or the equivalent (D).
- Proficient with computer administration systems and relevant educational technology (M)
- Must have a minimum of four years experience as a classroom teacher, preferably at the 5-8 level. (M)
- Previous administrative experience (D)
- Background in Christian philosophy of education (D).
- Must be a born-again Christian and must be above reproach (M).
- Must be an active member of a church with a doctrinal position consistent with that of the school.
- Must have a call of God to the ministry of Christian education in general and NCA in particular, and must have a deep desire to minister in the school.
