New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time High School Social Studies Teacher (employment agreement renewable annually pending board approval) beginning in August 2025. The individual will work at the Warrior campus location 3304 S. Cox Rd., Springfield, MO
Job Summary
This position may include American History and World History. Preference will be given to candidates who qualify to teach dual credit courses as approved by the hosting university. The role of the teacher is to engage and inspire students to learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women. The teacher will integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum, plan and implement a course of study to meet the individual needs of students, prepare and submit lesson plans, and assess student progress while demonstrating their own mastery of the subject matter taught. The teacher must also communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, students, administration, and faculty for the success of each student. Training And Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a valid Missouri (or from another state within the U.S.) Teaching Certificate and hold an appropriate endorsement in the areas of instruction with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in the area of teaching. Furthermore, candidates must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ and have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school.
Benefits & Compensation
The salary base for a beginning teacher is $38,540 and goes up incrementally based on education and years of teaching experience. Fringe benefits: The school pays for a majority of the employee's medical premiums. Optional insurance plans are available at the employee's expense. 50% tuition remission for your own qualified children to attend New Covenant Academy.
SPIRITUAL
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transport of objects (25-30 lbs). Rarely, it may be necessary to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHOOL SETTING
Fluorescent-lit classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other areas where students may be. Noise levels will vary throughout the shift.
