JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Substitute teachers are expected to perform all of the duties of the teacher they are replacing, including any scheduled extra duties the regular teacher may hold, unless specifically excused or directed otherwise by the principal. The role of this position is to engage and inspire students to learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women. The substitute teacher will integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum, implement a course of study outlined by the teacher to meet the individual needs of students, assess student progress and report back to the teacher regarding that progress. The substitute teacher must also have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, students, administration, and faculty for the success of each student.
Minimum qualifications require the same spiritual and personal qualifications as for all teachers and include but are not limited to the following: have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and demonstrates evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ and has an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school. Education requirements include a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, or at least 60 hours of college work.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Substitute teachers work on an as-needed basis and are employed according to established school policies.
This position is paid at an hourly rate in one-quarter day increments. This is an “at-will” position, and employment for a time does not guarantee continued employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk stand; sit; possibly run, stretch; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transporting of objects (25-30lbs).
