Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Kids Instructor to join our team! This role is responsible for teaching BJJ fundamentals to children, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students develop discipline, confidence, and respect through martial arts training. The ideal candidate has experience working with kids, strong BJJ knowledge, and a desire to inspire and mentor young athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Teach structured BJJ classes to kids (ages 4-6) in a safe, fun, and engaging manner.
- Implement age-appropriate techniques and drills that align with the academy’s curriculum.
- Foster a positive and disciplined environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and confidence.
- Assist students with technique development and provide individualized feedback.
- Ensure safety and proper conduct during training sessions.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Work closely with the head coach and academy staff to maintain a high-quality training experience.
- Set up and clean training areas before and after classes.
- Represent the academy’s values and philosophy inside and outside the gym.
Qualifications:
- BJJ Rank: Minimum Blue Belt (Purple Belt or higher preferred).
- Experience: Prior experience teaching kids' martial arts or coaching youth sports is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with kids, parents, and staff.
- Patience & Leadership: Must be patient, energetic, and able to manage a group of children in a structured setting.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background Check: Must pass a background check.
- Passion for BJJ and helping young students grow both on and off the mats.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Competition experience in BJJ (optional but a plus).
- Experience in early childhood education or youth mentorship.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate training methods.
