Job Description:
New Day, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate certified teacher to work with emotionally disturbed youth aged 10-17. The ideal candidate will have experience in special education, a passion for supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students while working within a supportive and structured setting.
Qualifications:
- Montana State Teaching License (required)
- Special Education Certification (required) or the ability to acquire licensure
- Knowledge of appropriate learning styles, psychology, and strategies to support emotionally disturbed youth
- Strong leadership skills, patience, and the ability to foster a positive and supportive learning environment
- Proficient in active listening and communication skills to understand and adapt to students’ unique learning needs
- Experience in managing challenging behaviors and creating a safe and effective learning atmosphere
- Ability to integrate technology to support education
Major Functions & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver academic lessons to help fill gaps in students’ learning
- Implement and manage student behavior according to the New Day's Behavior Incentive Program
- Assist students in utilizing technology to enhance their learning experience and support educational growth
- Adapt lessons to meet students’ individual needs, offering personalized support and guidance
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success
- Work collaboratively with other educators, therapists, and staff to create a cohesive approach to student learning and behavior management
- Regularly assess student progress and modify instruction to meet changing academic and emotional needs
