The Clinical Supervisor is an essential member of the agency. The Clinical Supervisor ensures the highest quality of care to our clients by coordinating and directing the clinical procedures for all programming Outpatient Mental Health Clinic(OMHC), Substance Abuse, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, & Supported Employment) activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide joint oversight of and leadership for the OMHC/SUD Department
- Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
- Consults with other therapists, counselors related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
- Supports evaluation of program services to enhance patient outcomes and acts as a positive change agent to implement clinical initiatives to increase quality patient care.
- Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of OMHC/SUD programs. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for the department.
- Attends staff meetings and team conferences; leads team meetings as required.
- Participates in, leads, and/or coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance treatment skills.
- Maintains current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding mental health, SUD and other psycho-social disorders through conferences, educational requirements for licensure, and applicable current literature.
- Conducts routine audits of electronic medical records, reports, and case histories to ensure compliance with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and program policies and procedures.
- Develop, update, and implement clinical procedures in accordance with agency and regulators standards.
- Follows up to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.
- May provide individual, SUD group, family therapy as needed
- Ensure billing is in compliance with insurance companies standards. Oversee the billing process for the OMHC/SUD Department Manage OMHC/SUD budget.
- Provide individual and group clinical supervision of mental health/SUD staff.
- Ensure that the clinic meets all contractual goals and funding requirements.
- Assist staff and interns with urgent clinical situations and provide supervisory crisis coverage.
- Recommend hiring and ensure proper training of staff.
- Assure that clinicians meet performance expectations by analyzing caseloads and service hours.
- Track program outcomes and make adjustments as necessary.
- The position will also require 20% travel throughout the state of Maryland.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Formulates a treatment plan with clients, using knowledge of mental health risk factors and counseling and treatment techniques.
- Conducts assessment of each patient’s psycho-social status and functioning to document history and identify preliminary items for the treatment plan.
- Facilitates the overall development and implementation of a comprehensive, individualized plan of treatment in conjunction with other treatment team members.
- Incorporates the patient’s psycho-social functioning and strengths in the plan of care.
- Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in crisis.
- Refers clients to other support services as needed, such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services.
- Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director that further the success of programs and/or the agency.
Leadership
- Serves as a member of the Management Team and works collaboratively to ensure all agency operations are integrated and function well.
- Provides leadership for initiatives to improve/maintain a positive work climate that is trauma informed.
- Provides overall programmatic and clinical oversight to assure consistency and continuity in the provision of services.
- Supervises, trains, coaches, and mentors therapists to achieve established goals.
- Ensures compliance with agency training requirements, for self and staff.
- Oversees certification site visit preparation, and program audit visits and reports.
- Assists with program development as well as ensures compliance with policies and procedures directly related to risk and funding mandates.
- Monitors and helps develop programmatic fiscal budgets.
- Liaison with appropriate mental health departments, community agencies and private practitioners.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or a substantially equivalent subject matter.
- Must meet the Approved Supervisory Status from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and or Maryland Board of Social Workers.
- Must have appropriate licensure, such as License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C), License Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor(LCADC) or Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT)that is in good standing with the Maryland Department of Health.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Positive attitude and open approach to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Strong knowledge of addiction, treatment, and recovery.
- Experience and ability to work with electronic medical records is required.
- Must pass state and federal criminal background check Adam Walsh background Maryland.
- Travel 20% of the time.
