Overview: The Operations Manager is a key management position responsible for overseeing daily operations, profitability, and growth of this division at New Energy Works / Sockeye. We have recently invested in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility (The Beamery) and automated CNC machinery for timber processing here in McMinnville, OR. This position ensures a smooth workflow of timber frame projects through our system while managing Project Engineers and a team of craftspeople, ensuring quality control and on time delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
Timber Frame Division Management:
- Supervise Project Engineers/Managers and Project Champions in decision-making for field requirements, including manpower, scheduling, equipment, and shipping logistics.
- Maintain production schedules within the timber frame shop and ensure staffing, hiring, quality control and safety.
- Ensure final quality control of completed projects and uphold safety standards.
- Coordinate and manage project engineering processes within the division.
- Work shoulder to shoulder with an outstanding group of craftspeople while motivating, guiding and inspiring them to create exception work.
Operations Management:
- Oversee Project Managers, Production Managers, Logistics Managers, and Timber Frame Champions.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures and ensure departmental efficiency.
- Lead and mentor employees while holding them accountable to company standards.
- Manage and optimize budgets, ensuring financial objectives align with company goals.
- Oversee personnel and resource planning to ensure proper staffing and equipment availability.
- Maintain project timelines and adherence to contractual deadlines.
- Interface with clients, partners, and subcontractors professionally and effectively.
- Implement and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong decision-making, collaboration, and delegation skills.
- Experience in wood manufacturing or construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret financial plans including P&L, WIP and other key financial documents.
- Proven leadership experience in managing multiple departments.
- Staff management of 25 people include 5-8 direct reports.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, project management, and budgeting.
- Experience in logistics coordination and material procurement.
