Reporting to the New England Aquarium's Manager of Editorial, the Writer will be responsible for writing long and short copy for print publications, the New England Aquarium's website, digital media, and development / fundraising communications. This content promotes the Aquarium's ocean conservation mission and delivers compelling reasons to visit and support the Aquarium.
This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 9 : 00 am - 5 : 30 pm with the option for a hybrid schedule, working up to three days remotely. Remote days are only available for residents of MA, RI, NH, ME, NY and VT.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Research and write long form articles and short copy on multiple topics, as assigned by the Editorial Manager.
- Interview Aquarium staff members to write content for various outlets including the website, e-newsletters, development / fundraising material, and assorted collateral materials.
- Develop strong collaborative partnerships throughout the organization to surface the best examples of the Aquarium both as a global leader in ocean conservation and a premier destination.
- Manage and create content for social media and the website.
- Convey complex topics clearly to both scientific and lay audiences.
- Edit material in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure material adheres to the highest standards.
- Support the Marketing and Communications team with other writing and editing duties.
