The Director of Educational Services is responsible the development and supervision of all aspects of educational programming and habilitative activities on the Intensive Treatment Team (ITT).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversight of ITT
- With ITT Director and ITT Clinical Director, establish team and student-specific goals related to the provision of state-of-the art programming to ensure therapeutic treatment and education of NECC’s most behaviorally challenging students.
- Measures related to goals include restrictive measures per student and per environment, student engagement, student independence, student participation in residential activities of daily living (e.g., meals, showering, etc.) and school life (e.g., specials, enrichment, special outings, etc.) in activity-specific settings, student progress on and obtainment or IEP objectives, injury data.
- Educational and habilitative responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the ITT Director, ITT Clinical Director, and ITT Education Coordinators to assure educational systems are intact and operating efficiently on the ITT.
- Collaborate with the ITT Clinical Director to ensure coordination of clinical and educational programming.
- Collaborate and communicate with ITT caseload specialty service providers to ensure they are aware of and contributing to team and student goals.
- Spend much of week with students in their school and classroom settings to ensure educational and habilitative goals are being addressed, to model teaching procedures, to train teachers in vivo, and to probe new initiatives.
- Set up and monitor systems to ensure educational and habilitative outcomes.
- Work directly with team supervisors to generate protocols for assessment and teaching of priority skills.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in educational and habilitative applications and serves as a role model.
- Participate in all student’s Assessment meetings.
- Participate in student planning meetings for all ITT teams.
- Work closely with NECC Southborough Education Director to maintain consistency in educational systems across the Southborough program, and to share new initiatives and outcomes that support collaboration across all programs.
- Supervisory/Training
- Provide advanced training or research opportunities to ITT Education Coordinators.
- Serve as a resource to ITT Education Coordinators as needed to advance student progress and team goals.
- In collaboration with Professional Development and with ITT Education Coordinators, assure adequate training is provided to teaching staff in the implementation of educational programming (including SA, TA, and IT protocols) and ACE application (including data collection, lesson activation, and data monitoring).
- Support ITT Program Specialists and Education Coordinators in their communication with families and other stakeholders and to ensure their input into educational programming is recruited and incorporated as appropriate.
- Administrative/Service
- Ensure accurate implementation of NECC clinical policies and procedures.
- Participates in NECC systems development, program wide planning and coordination and training of NECC best instructional policies and procedures.
- As opportunities become available and in conjunction with NECC Director of Graduate studies, participate in graduate programs associated with NECC.
- Carry clinical on-call phone
Education/Experience
- Masters or doctorate in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or Education (including specialty disciplines) and LABA/BCBA required.
- Significant experience working with special needs populations in an ABA setting.
- Has the skills to work well with Directors and Administration.
- Has a well-developed clinical and educational skill set
- Has extensive experience with practical clinical problem solving.
- Interest and flexibility required to address the clinical needs of 24/7/365 residential program.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates personal competencies in areas of principles of ABA.
- Demonstrates experience conducting basic and applied research on human learning.
- Experience in staff supervision.
