What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse/Forklift Operator First Shift position at New England Cold Storage?
New England Cold Storage (NECS) opened our state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse in August of 2022. We store 25,000 pallets of frozen food from around the world. We started our brand-new company from scratch and have selectively hired people who add positive energy, share insightful ideas, and help improve our operation every day. What Do Operators Do?
Our operators drive stand-up forklifts, reach trucks and pallet jacks to load and unload tractor-trailers, and they manage the inventory.
Under direction of the Warehouse Manager, your Responsibilities will include:
- Scan inbound loads into inventory and put away in proper rack locations
- Pick pallets for outbound loads
- Use of high reach trucks to unload and put away products in deep racking systems
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently - we take care of each other!
- Be focused and enjoy problem-solving
- Use scanner & software to maintain accurate physical inventory
- Work cooperatively with your team members
- Be reliable and available to work your scheduled shifts
- Other duties as needed
Skills and qualifications
- Reach Truck: 1 year – 2 deep shelving (preferred)
- Forklift Operator: 1 year
- Valid driver’s license (Required) - reliable transportation
- Basic math skills
- Experience with inventory and logistics software (WMS) (Preferred)
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed (time-and-a-half after 40 hrs)
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen including THC
Educational Background
High school diploma or equivalent

- Performs work in a cold storage warehouse where moving machinery and extreme cold is present. Wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment such as hard hat, boots, etc. is required. This PPE is company provided.
- The employee will be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures up to -15 degrees Fahrenheit.
- The employee will be required to tolerate heights up to 55 ft. and be able to access elevated products from inside the safety cage.
- The employee needs to be able to work their scheduled hours on one’s feet and perform physically demanding tasks.
- The employee needs to be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
