Position Summary
The Learning Engagement Coach collaborates with colleagues across grades 7-12 using a human-centered design framework to co-create environments that encourage learner engagement with the NEIA curriculum and maximize the potential for exciting learning outcomes. In this part-time role, the LEC works closely with the Learning Engagement Lead to support NEIA students as they discover their unique learning strengths, passions, and growth areas, build resilience to navigate learning challenges, design their learning plans, and communicate and self-advocate with others inside and outside the NEIA community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
● Embraces NEIA’s core principles of empathy, equity, personalization, authentic work, and collaboration in all activities and actions.
● Encourages a culture of inclusion at NEIA, sharing a strengths-based perspective on neurodiversity and learning differences.
● Regularly pushes into classrooms, interacting with NEIA students and teaching staff to discuss success strategies informed by emergent, real-time challenges and dynamic and ongoing reection on those challenges.
● Meets individually and in small groups with NEIA students to guide the creation and revision of innovator-designed learning plans focused on goal setting and achievement, interest exploration, strengths articulation, habit formation and practice, and executive functioning skill development.
● Communicates regularly about the evolving needs of NEIA students on their assigned student caseload with the Learning Engagement Lead, NEIA Advocates, teaching staff, counseling staff, and families.
