Position Summary
The Summer Program Nurse is responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of participants and staff by providing first aid, administering medications, managing health records, and responding to medical emergencies. This role is essential in ensuring a safe and healthy program environment. The position requires professionalism, an entrepreneurial spirit and start-up mentality, and excellent interpersonal and relationship skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Medical Care & First Aid:
Provide first aid and basic medical care for students and staff (if necessary).
Assess and treat minor illnesses and injuries, escalating cases when necessary.
Administer prescribed and over-the-counter medications according to physician and parent instructions.
Monitor participants with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes) and ensure proper care.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for participants and staff.
Ensure all medical forms, immunization records, and emergency contact details are up to date.
Adhere to all program health and safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized health center.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to handle medical emergencies and implement emergency protocols.
Coordinate with local healthcare facilities for off-site medical treatment if needed.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding participant health concerns.
Health Education & Promotion:
Educate staff and participants on proper hygiene, hydration, and injury prevention.
Provide guidance on managing heat-related illnesses, allergies, and communicable diseases.
Work with the food service team to ensure dietary needs and allergy accommodations.
Salary : $25 - $30
