Millwork/Casework Drafter
We are searching for a Millwork Drafter who is responsible for programming and preparing parts list, bill of materials and shop drawings in AutoCAD or Microvellum software. Work with an existing team to coordinate drawings and provide quality design for customer approval and manufacturing job packets.
This is a full-time, hourly position with standard hours of 7am-3:30pm M-F, reporting to the Production Manager. In this role you will be responsible to optimize yields and order material per specification, in time to meet production schedule.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Use AutoCAD to produce shop drawings in Mircrovellum environment to generate production orders
- Take lead role in coordinating drafting tasks with production schedule
- Assist with quantity take-offs and clarifying scope in order to generate and qualify new work
- Program details and sections for fabrication, including all CNC machining.
- Assist NEL drafting department with design of custom/modified products prior to shop drawing submittal
- Coordinate with NEL drafting department manager on a weekly basis for product drawings
- Coordinate with project manager(s) and production manager to maintain schedules and deadlines
- Assist/Prepare schedule for weekly coordination meeting
- Design/Draw products as needed for production for automated equipment
- Process projects through AutoCAD, Microvellum and/or Cutrite
- Work with Purchasing to identify deadlines for material counts
- Prepare and distribute manufacturing paperwork, product labels and packing slips
Qualifications
- 2-5 years AutoCAD experience. Associate's degree or certificate in drafting is required.
- 1-3 years millwork experience
- 2-5 years experience programming production software (Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Solidworks, or similar software)
- Knowledge of layout, shop drawings and construction of customized commercial casework & millwork
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with materials and hardware for commercial casework and millwork
- Estimating, purchasing and scheduling experience is a plus
- Able to effectively manage information, schedules and people
- Professional and clear communicator
