New England Medical Group provides integrative health care and wellness services for mental health and substance use disorders. Our holistic approach seeks to bridge the gaps in services for people seeking medical and therapeutic support. We are currently seeking experienced Counselors with a passion for helping adults with Substance Use Disorder Treatment working alongside our multi-disciplinary team at our location in Norwell, MA.
Position Overview: The Counselor oversees patient care by conducting intake assessments, group and individual services, collateral and family contact, treatment planning, and case management to ensure the patient enjoys a cohesive treatment experience. They will practice within the fiscal, ethical and legal standards, core values, and mission statement of New England Medical Group.
Positions are available for a counselor in the PHP/IOP Substance Use Disorder Program which operates Monday-Friday. This position will require up to 3 evening shifts a week from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and skills training.
- Ensures orientation of new clients upon admission.
- Obtains history and presenting information as part of intake process.
- Collaboratively develops and updates individualized treatment plans.
- Utilizes patient-centered therapeutic interventions and rapport-building practices, including motivational interviewing techniques to enhance patient outcomes.
- Documents treatment interventions, contacts, treatment plans and sessions.
- Maintains individual caseload to actively engage patients in the program.
- Coordinates comprehensive discharge plan to ensure seamless community reintegration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree required in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology or related field.
- LCSW, LICSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, LADC preferred..
- Master’s degree (in related field) with at least 3 years of direct clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work with an Electronic Medical Record (KIPU)
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and demands.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the clinical environment.
- Understands the need for confidentiality and always maintains appropriate boundaries. Including when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
- Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of case management within the mental health field.
