Facility Overview: Established in 1902, Winchester Country Club is a premier private country club located in Winchester, Massachusetts, nestled in a vibrant suburban community, just nine miles northwest of Boston, with a classic 18-hole Donald Ross golf course and 25-acre Golf Learning Center. This practice facility includes a full driving range, short game area, six practice holes and a state-of-the-art teaching building equipped with TrackMan simulators. The club has 740 members (355 golfing members) with an average of 25,000 rounds per season including an extensive member tournament schedule; an active women's program; a prosperous junior golf program; and a well-established caddie program. The facilities include a 25,000 square foot clubhouse with various food venues, locker facilities, Golf Shop, outside dining, Aquatics facility with two pools, play areas, pool house, basketball court, four tennis courts and three paddle tennis courts. The club also includes a year-round Sports Center fitness facility with massage rooms, locker rooms, exercise studio, game room, indoor golf hitting bays and two AboutGolf simulators.
Position: The golf operation is looking for an Assistant Merchandiser/Golf Shop Associate to join our team. There is plenty of flexibility in regards to length of season and hours per week. We are looking for the best candidate and will consider people’s unique lifestyle, winter employment commitments or school requirements.
Experience Required
Prior retail and/or golf operations experience is preferred. Must have strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail and the ability to work well amongst a team. Knowledge of the golf industry is a plus but not required. Candidate should have flexibility to work a varied schedule, adapting to the Club's demands.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service to an active membership. Assist our Head Merchandiser, Head Golf Professional and golf staff in the retail operation which includes duties such as maintaining an orderly appearance in the Golf Shop, assisting in visual display of merchandise, ordering and receiving product daily, assisting in the day-to-day Golf Shop operation which will include tee time management and other golf related duties. This employee will also be involved a busy golf tournament operation and may be asked to assist in identifying and managing marketing opportunities via the Club’s website and social media.
