Established in 1902, Winchester Country Club is a premier private country club located in Winchester, Massachusetts, nestled in a vibrant suburban community, just nine miles northwest of Boston, with a classic 18-hole Donald Ross golf course and 25-acre Golf Learning Center. This practice facility includes a full driving range, short game area, six practice holes and a state-of-the-art teaching building equipped with TrackMan simulators. The club has 740 members (355 golfing members) with an average of 25,000 rounds per season including an extensive member tournament schedule; an active women's program; a prosperous junior golf program; and a well-established caddie program. The facilities include a 25,000 square foot clubhouse with various food venues, locker facilities, Golf Shop, outside dining, Aquatics facility with two pools, play areas, pool house, basketball court, four tennis courts and three paddle tennis courts. The club also includes a year-round Sports Center fitness facility with massage rooms, locker rooms, exercise studio, game room, indoor golf hitting bays and two AboutGolf simulators.
The golf operation is looking for a Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional. 7-month position. April until late October. Start and end dates flexible. Currently, start and end dates could be flexible. We are looking for the best candidate and will consider candidates unique lifestyle and winter employment commitments.
This Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional position will have a major focus on tournament operations, merchandising and teaching. Looking for a candidate with the strong desire to become a Head Golf Professional. The operation is a great learning and mentoring environment that has seen 8 assistants move on to Head Professional positions in the past 11 years, with other staff members acquiring prominent positions throughout the golf industry.
Experience Required
PGA/LPGA Class A Member or Associate with private facility experience. Candidates should have strong computer skills and knowledge using tournament software programs, Golf Genius, GHIN, P.O.S. systems, coaching software and TrackMan. Applicants should have teaching and club fitting knowledge and experience with junior golf programs. Excellent customer service and an outgoing personality is a must.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service to an active membership throughout several club facilities. Assist in the management of a busy tournament operations program that includes member events, weekly ladies’ day activities, interclub matches, and charitable outings. Assist in the management of an extensive Junior Golf Program, playing an active role in its day-to-day operations. Provide instruction to golfers in the form of individual lessons and clinics. Assist with the purchasing, receiving and inventory control of merchandise. Manage the day-to-day golf shop operation, which includes a club repair business. Improve the overall golfing experience by accompanying members and guests on the golf course.
