Position Summary:
The Youth Program Director will play a vital role in leading the development and execution of youth-focused programs, including camps, school vacation programs, and youth sports. This individual will ensure a high-quality experience for all participants while driving engagement and maximizing youth sports programs profitability.
This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities :
Managerial:
- Recruit, hire, train, oversee and schedule youth program staff including camp counselors, coaches, officials, and field staff.
- Provide guidance and support to team members during shifts, ensuring they follow procedures and maintain high standards of service.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any issues with staff behavior or performance.
- Prepare and manage the department's budget in collaboration with the General Manager.
Programming:
- Plan, develop and implement engaging camp, sports, and school vacation programming in coordination with the General Manager.
- Oversee scheduling, organization, and coordination of all camp programming.
- Design and execute program curricula in collaboration with camp staff.
- Manage incident and injury reports, ensuring proper investigations, documentation and resolution.
- Manage participant enrollment and ensure timely collection of all payments before the start of programming.
- Monitor and maintain inventory, ordering necessary supplies as needed.
- Approve instructional materials and teaching aids to enhance learning experiences.
- Communicate with parents regarding program activities, policies, and enrollment procedures.
- Address youth attendee behavioral or learning concerns and implement strategies for positive engagement.
- Ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
- 2 years of related leadership experience in youth camp, sports, and school vacation programs.
- Prior supervisory experience
- Experience maintaining Youth Recreation Camp licensing and adhering to licensing requirements.
- Knowledge of youth program development and sports management best practices.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with staff, parents, and participants.
- Technical proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office, including Excel creation.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the venue.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly participate in youth sports and camp activities including running, walking, baseball/softball, golf, kicking, bending and stooping.
- Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
